- Define the mapping once (fields, exclusions, defaults).
- Review deltas per period, not the whole universe.
- Export from the tool; archive by period; never hand-edit the file.
Why narrow tools win here
A general reporting platform invites custom logic per month. A narrow tool refuses: same mapping, same flags, same columns. Boring is the feature — auditors like boring.
